Austin staple Amy’s Ice Creams marks 40 years with big party

AUSTIN, Texas — (CultureMap Austin) On June 8, Amy’s Ice Creams is turning 40 years old, and all of Austin is invited to the party. The celebratory event at Bouldin Acres will include coffee and food from the host, live music, ice cream stunting, and even an attempt at a world record throwing and catching ice cream. Of course, there will also be limited-edition flavors to try.

This free, family- and dog-friendly event will be held from 11 am to 3 pm.

For Austinites who might not be familiar with Amy’s or their scoopers’ “ice cream tricks,” it’s not something to miss. Amy’s scoopers are renowned for their abilities to scoop up heaps of ice cream, throw them into the air, and slam them down in order to best mix them up with your preferred toppings. The science is still out on whether or not this is, in fact, the best method for mixing toppings, but it does look cool…
