Couples share love stories at Capital Region Pride Parade

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The 2025 Capital Region Pride Parade kicked off Sunday for another year, but this time with a new special addition. Couples across the region got the chance to renew their wedding vows this year before the parade started.

About a dozen people gathered in Washington Park Sunday morning to renew their wedding vows with the Capital Region Pride Center. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said this is the first year they’ve done something like this and she said she was honored to officiate the ceremony.

“It’s important that we make sure that that community knows that they are welcome here, that we celebrate their marriages, that we respect the vows they have taken and that we’re here to support them,” said Sheehan.

Couples of all ages appeared — including one couple who didn’t want to share their names, but have been together for nearly 30 years…
