‘Locks for Addiction’ memorial in need of cleanup once again

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A Lexington memorial for the families of those impacted by addiction, has once again become a target for trash and damage.

From Newtown Pike, it is easy to drive past the memorial quickly and seeing the ‘Locks for Addiction’ as a fence full of locks. The locks represent people who have overcome addiction, actively going through addiction or who have lost their lives to addiction.

“Once again here we are again you know with a big mess to clean up,” said Gale Smith, an ambassador for the Locks for Addiction fence. “There’s dumpsters and places for these types of things and not on someplace where we’re trying to remember and memorialize our families and loved ones and friends that we’ve lost.”…
