Williamson County Animal Shelter launches ‘Reunion Stations’ in effort to return lost pets to owners

AUSTIN, Texas — The Williamson County Animal Shelter is working to get lost pets home to their families faster, with the help of a new tool.

The shelter has launched “Reunion Stations,” which were designed with the aim of reuniting lost pets with their families as quickly and efficiently as possible, without the pets ever needing to enter the shelter.

The stations have microchip stations, which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Microchips are cited as being one of the most effective tools for returning lost pets, but limited access and hours at places where pets can be scanned slow the process down…
