PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – We broke Sunday’s daily record for high temperature- officially hitting 96 degrees in Portland (PDX) around 5:30 this evening. Hillsboro also set a new daily warm record today (96, beating out 95) and Eugene, too (94, beating out 93). Yikes it was hot! It will be a very warm overnight, with lows likely in the mid 60s in the metro area. Things will heat up quickly once again Monday- another afternoon in the low to mid 90s is expected. The heat advisory remains in place through Monday night.
The ridge of high pressure starts to break down Tuesday, bringing afternoon temperatures back down into the mid 80s. As a trough starts to dig in midweek, increased onshore flow (cooler marine air) will keep dropping our temperatures into the 70s Thursday and beyond. That’s where we should remain through next weekend. For now, long-term ensemble forecasts aren’t giving us much hope that we’ll see any rain, they’ve backed off the little chances we were seeing for Friday/the weekend. Right now it looks like partly cloudy skies and seasonable conditions- that’s nice stuff Thursday through Sunday and also very normal for this time of year!…
