Trumbull man gets 10 years in prison for role in killing of South Carolina college student

A Trumbull man was sentenced to serve a decade behind bars for his involvement in the homicide of a 20-year-old college student in South Carolina, according to officials.

Circuit Court Judge Michael G. Nettles sentenced Branden Huertas, 43, on Friday to 15 years in prison — the maximum sentence for his offense — suspended after serving 10 years, followed by three years of probation, said Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office Jimmy Richardson.
