Loading Summer: Warmest stretch of weather could bring highs near 80 for the Interior by weeks end

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – Not to sound like a broken record, but ongoing rain continues across Southcentral. This comes as an upper-level low continues to influence our weather for today, although summer warmth is only days away. While rain still remains with us across the state to start the week, many areas will trend a lot drier through the week.

SOUTHCENTRAL:

Our well-advertised warm-up is just days away, with rain showers remaining in the forecast for today. The rain comes from an upper-level low that is situated just to the northwest of Southcentral. This has kept on and off rain showers through the Valley, where many areas are already seeing up to half an inch of rain accumulation. We’ll see additional rain throughout the day, with the rain heavily favoring the Mat-Su Valley and into Prince William Sound. Anchorage will also see some rain, although the better chance will arrive later this afternoon into the evening. This comes as our upper-level low begins its journey southeast into the Gulf of Alaska. This will also lead to additional rain showers for the Southeast later this week…
