CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UVA Medical Center CEO Wendy Horton joined Morning News to reflect on the power of community support, warn about the return of measles, and highlight national recognition for UVA Health’s maternity care and nursing. Horton highlighted the decade-long partnership with WINA and its listeners, which has raised over $593,000 for UVA Children’s. “That’s what our community is really all about,” she said. “To see the building of the NICU and expansion of the PICU, it’s phenomenal.”
Horton also addressed growing concerns around measles cases in Virginia, noting two of the state’s three recent cases were in Charlottesville. “It’s highly contagious, it spreads through the air,” she warned, urging parents to check vaccination status, especially if COVID disruptions caused delays. “It’s knocking on our door for sure… If you haven’t gotten vaccinated or haven’t gotten your children vaccinated, it’s time to do it.”…
