It was a scheme that allegedly netted the suspects $81,000 from ATM machines in Missouri. The FBI in St. Louis say two Venezuelans have officially been charged with this high tech theft.
The FBI in St. Louis, Missouri just shared details of this ATM theft on their Facebook page.
The United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Missouri adds even more details into what the FBI has learned. Their press release states that Berny Alberson Meza-Rojas, 22, and Anthony Brijan Sorondo, 31 were just indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit bank larceny which they pled not guilty to. Here are the ATM’s they are accused of stealing thousands of dollars from:
- ATMs in Bloomsdale and Herculaneum – $11,000
- ATMs in O’Fallon, Festus, Ste. Genevieve and Cape Girardeau – $70,000+
The FBI in St. Louis alleges that these two Venezuelan nationals hacked the ATM machines causing them to release large amounts of cash. They are asking the courts to keep them in jail until trial since they are said to have entered the country illegally.
