Cobb Hardware Fights to Stay in Marietta as Road Project Claims Front Lot

MARIETTA — Construction crews have broken ground on a road widening project on Roswell Street, a project which is forcing a Marietta hardware store to close its doors, according to the owner.

Cobb Hardware, a staple in the Gem City since 1932, is being forced to move out of its building, according to store owner Bob Witcher, due to the city project taking out the business’ front parking lot.

Without the parking space, he said, the store will have nowhere for customers to park. As a result, the store is looking to relocate in order to stay afloat…
