PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A Joint Base Lewis-McChord Army Ranger has been honored with the U.S. military’s highest award for non-combat valor, the Soldier’s Medal, nearly one year after saving a man who fell more than 500 feet off Mount Hood.
Staff Sgt. Callum Wilkie received the Soldier’s Medal during a ceremony at JBLM on Monday. The medal is awarded for acts of heroism performed outside of combat.
