Albany mayor honored for support of Ukraine

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — As Russian attacks continue in Ukraine, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan was recognized for supporting the Ukrainian sister city of Bucha.

One year ago, the mayor joined dozens of ambulances as they made their way from the beaches of Normandy to Ukraine to bring supplies in a Convoy of Hope. The eight-day journey covered nearly 2,000 miles.

Mayor Sheehan also took part in a groundbreaking for a new hospital in Bucha, one that focuses on mental health.

“It was a sobering experience, and it instilled in me an even stronger determination to stand by Ukraine, to stand for justice, to stand against tyranny, to stand against what the Russian forces are doing and continue to do in a sovereign nation. And it’s important for us to say that out loud,” she said…
