PUNTA GORDA — Defense attorneys for Ryan Cole, convicted in the killing of 15-year-old Khyler Edman in 2019, will fight to avoid the death penalty for their client next week.
In May, 10 members of a selected jury voted for the death penalty as punishment while two voted against it, in favor of life in prison. Eight votes are needed to confirm the death penalty.
