Trial underway for man accused of murdering and dismembering beloved Greenbelt teacher

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (7News) — The trial of a man accused of abducting, murdering and dismembering a beloved local teacher is underway in Prince George’s County on Tuesday.

Harold Landon III, 34, is accused of killing Greenbelt teacher Mariame Toure Sylla, 59, back in 2023.

Maryland Bureau Chief Brad Bell was in the courtroom today.

In her opening statement to the jury, Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy described Sylla as a mother, teacher, sister and beloved member of the community, but then she turned to the details of the Greenbelt teacher’s murder…
