Investigation leads to seizure of drugs, firearms and U.S. currency

On May 30, 2025, the Virginia State Police James River Regional Drug Task Force along with the assistance of The Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, and the Virginia State Police Special Operations Division, executed a criminal search warrant in the 2400 block of Broadway Avenue SW in Roanoke.

The investigation began in Beford County, focused on methamphetamine and heroin containing fentanyl being sold in Beford County. Special agents identified a 27-year-old male operating out of Roanoke and tracked his movements leading investigators to the Roanoke address.

The search warrant was obtained and executed while the suspect was at the location. Special agents arrested Jayshawn Lamonte Lomax, 27, of Roanoke, Va. and seized approximately 1,886 grams of suspected fentanyl, 1,275 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 425 grams of marijuana.
