Greenville Juvenile Detention Center to reopen

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville County Detention Center reopened on Wednesday after an extended absence.

For more than three years, the Greenville Juvenile Detention Center has remained vacant due to issues such as staffing shortages and overpopulation.

In efforts to ease capacity issues at the facility in Columbia, the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) has reached an agreement to pay Greenville County more than $3 million dollars to lease the facility for 5 years…
