Ground has officially been broken on the newest fire station set to be built in Greenville.
The groundbreaking Tuesday marks the start of work on the new Fire Station 4 off East Park Avenue in downtown Greenville.
The station is set to replace the old station originally in its location that was built over 70 years ago.

Fire Chief Brian Horton also explained that the project has been in the works for several years at this point and is expected to last for decades to come.
“With the construction of the new Stone Avenue Fire Station, the city is investing back into our community,” Horton said. “It’s insuring that our neighborhood, our citizens and our visitors will continue to receive the level of service and care they’ve come to expect from our personnel and our city.”…
