HARRISBURG, Pa. — Nearly 60,000 former public workers have not seen a cost-of-living adjustment to their pensions since 2002, with the value of those pensions dropping by nearly half during that period due to inflation.
A new push to add cost-of-living adjustments to “pre-Act 9” pensions has risen after the State House of Representatives passed House Bill 411 in April to retirees in the State Employees’ Retirement System and the Public School Employees’ Retirement System.
No pensioners who retired before 2001 in either system have received COLA adjustments since 2002…
