Sarah Susman, 25, was driving to work on Highway 126 W from her home in Springfield on Sept. 20, 2021, when a log truck operated by Shane McVay, 67, rolled over and lost its load. The logs struck Susman’s vehicle and several others.
Susman, a part-time emergency medical technician for Western Lane Fire and EMS and a future medical school student, died as a result of her injuries.
“Sarah was a wonderful 25-year-old young lady,” Tom D’Amore, an attorney for the Susman family, said. “She was an EMT. She was a graduate of the University of Oregon, top of her class. She had just sat for the MCAT because she wanted to go to medical school. She was kind of everything you would want out of a daughter.”…
