Amy Benson, the visionary founder of Afro Aloha and host of the Afro Aloha Podcast, stopped by the Living808 studio to share exciting updates from Hawaii’s thriving Black cultural hub.
Founded in 2020, Afro Aloha was born from Amy’s personal experience after living in Hawai‘i for seven years and noticing a lack of culturally representative spaces. “There were few experiences that reflected me,” she shared. Afro Aloha’s next signature event is Afro Aloha Live! Black is Art Edition, happening June 18 at Blue Note Hawaii. “It’s a transformative experience,” said Benson. “It blends culture, music, and live audience interaction. Attendees hear from changemakers in Hawai‘i, ask questions, and enjoy art, music, and spoken word.”…
