Since its opening in October 2024, this locally owned salon has made waves not only for its cutting-edge hairstyles but also for its groundbreaking commitment to sensory safety, making it the first and only certified Sensory Safe Salon in the area.
As a mother of two, Alda understands the challenges families face when it comes to haircuts for little ones, especially for children with sensory sensitivities. “I wanted to create a place where every child feels welcome and where parents can relax knowing their kids are cared for in a nurturing environment,” she shared. With that vision in mind, Alda embarked on a journey to turn her dream into reality.
Through comprehensive training and certification, Pigtails & Crewcuts has not only prioritized stylish haircuts but has also incorporated special sensory-friendly elements designed to enhance every child’s experience. Colorful decor, fun chairs, kid friendly atmosphere, and a variety of toys are all part of the thoughtful design aimed at creating a fun environment for kids.
“The idea is to meet every kid where they are currently at to create a less stressful haircut for every child, which is different for every child,” Alda explained. “We want kids to feel safe and excited about their time here.” The salon takes the time to learn what are the needs for each child to better serve them to make the haircutting experience better for everyone.
