TOLEDO, Ohio — Real-life heroism took center stage at the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio’s 59th annual Hero Awards Banquet Thursday night, where community members were honored for life-saving actions.
Among those being recognized at The Pinnacle in Maumee: Jeremiah McNutt and Jemark Walker, who rescued an elderly couple trapped on the roof of their burning home.
The rescue unfolded when McNutt noticed smoke billowing from his neighbor’s home in Toledo. Instead of calling 911 and waiting for help, he grabbed a ladder and rushed toward the flames…
