LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Other than a few showers and storms, mainly in the east and southeast South Plains, the day was a calm one. Mostly sunny skies and temperatures returned to the low to mid 80s, except in the areas where cloud cover and showers made for lower afternoon temps.

Rain chances decrease through midday Friday, then a chance of some storms returning late Friday into Saturday morning. There will be a slight chance of isolated showers or storms throughout the weekend. If storms develop, they will not be on the level of the ones recently on the South Plains.

As for the temperatures, nighttime lows will remain in the mid to upper 60s and skies mostly sunny, except late Friday. After temps will return to the mid-80s on Thursday and climb above normal beginning Friday through the weekend.

An upper-level system will bring the chance of isolated storms late Friday and those storms may continue in the Saturday morning, but should decrease during Saturday…
