Kern County sees 2.3% decline in homeless population compared to 2024

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — According to the 2025 Point-In-Time Count report by the Bakersfield-Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative, a total of 2,606 people are experiencing homelessness — a drop compared to last year’s count.

Among those 2,606 people, 52% were unsheltered and 48% utilized shelters, the report says. Shelters include all emergency shelters, navigation centers and transitional housing.

Most homeless individuals were located in the Bakersfield Metro Area, including the unincorporated areas of east Bakersfield, Oildale and Rosedale.
