PORTAGE, Mich. — A 25-year-old woman arrested for allegedly stealing a car with an 8-month-old child in the back seat has admitted to investigators that she did it.
On Wednesday, Shyann Sherelle Sanchez was arraigned in Kalamazoo County court on the following charges, according to documents obtained by News Channel 3:
- Unlawful imprisonment: felony punishable by up to 15 years
- Child abandonment: felony punishable by up to 10 years
- Unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle: felony punishable by not more than five years, suspends drivers license one year
- Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, a felony punishable by no more than two years in prison.
The Portage Department of Public Safety (PPS) was called at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday on a report that a 2012 Audi Q7 had been stolen, and 8-month-old Onnesty Johnson was inside.
“Once the car was gone [and] out of my eyesight, it was like my world just was ending,” Rayanna Johnson, Onnesty’s mother, said. “I couldn’t really believe that she really was gone.”…
