Boise, ID – Idaho drivers are being warned to stay alert after reports of scammers posing as stranded motorists along highways and at gas stations.
According to the Idaho State Police, the scam involves individuals pretending their vehicle is out of gas or their credit card doesn’t work. In a bid to gain sympathy, they often claim to need quick help and may attempt to sell what appears to be valuable jewelry or goods in exchange for cash. However, authorities warn that the items being offered are fake and that the entire situation is staged.
