Yellow Wood Academy, a private school that has called Mercer Island home since 1981, is preparing to move to a new location in Bellevue for the 2025-26 academic year, which starts on Sept. 3.
The nonprofit independent school — which serves students in grades 4 through 12 with tailored teaching to meet various learning needs, skills, and styles in small-group and individual formats — is renovating a building in the Cascade Yard office park off Eastgate Boulevard, along the north side of Interstate 90, just east of Interstate 405. The new location is about 4 miles east of the Mercer Island site.
Yellow Wood plans to move into the office park’s Building B, comprising 24,578 square feet. The former office space is being converted to include classrooms, a science lab, art studio, robotics lab, music studio, space for physical-education programs, and spacious common area for community gatherings, performances, and other events.
