Murfreesboro looking for more land to build another fire station

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new fire station could come to one area in Rutherford County, but leaders need more land to build it.

The city found that another fire station is needed to support the area’s population. Its site could be near the Joe B. Jackson Parkway area — between Interstate 24 and Manchester Pike.

In a recent City Council meeting, Murfreesboro’s Vice Mayor, Bill Shacklett, said the city has some property out there, but it doesn’t appear to be large enough to put a fire station.

“We’re trying to find and be creative in how do we find the land to be able to put a new fire station in that critical area in that growing part of our community,” Shacklett said…
