Teen arrested, another suspect at large after police pursuit

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office has a 16-year-old in custody and is searching for another suspect after an attempted traffic stop turned into an overnight pursuit.

Around 11:45 p.m. Friday, a deputy patrolling the Blue Ridge area reportedly caught a car going 87 mph in a 60-mph zone. The Sheriff’s Office says when deputies tried to pull the car over, it fled and ultimately crashed at the Sheetz construction site along Route 460. Two suspects ran from the vehicle, dropping a stockless rifle, according to deputies, who followed the suspects until they disappeared into a wooded area. BCSO says at that point, the pursuit stopped due to officer safety concerns.
