“Keep our Democracy going”: Thousands take to the streets of Anchorage for ‘No Kings’ Protest

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) -It was a day of protest in the United States; in Alaska’s biggest city, the people made their voices heard. The sunny day provided ample opportunity for many people to hit the street as protesters gathered on L St. over a variety of issues, but with one common sentiment…There will be no kings in America.

These protests come as 42 people were arrested, flown in from out-of-state, and detained by ICE as President Donald Trump cracks down on illegal immigration, and many of the protesters wanted President Trump and his team to follow due process.

“The fact that people who are our friends and our neighbors, people that service us every day in our community, the people who take our orders at fast food restaurants, the people who clean the hotels that the tourists stay in, the people that sell the goods that the tourists wish to purchase the reason that people are here, the reason that Alaska is currently economically viable is because of these individuals that are our friends, they are our neighbors,” Protester Wesley Hales said…
