Gwinnett County will open the new Hooper-Renwick Themed Library on Monday next week at 56 Neal Blvd., transforming the former Hooper-Renwick School—the only public high school for Black students in the area—into a 27,327-square-foot library and community space. The project was funded through the SPLOST program with additional support from the City of Lawrenceville.
According to the Gwinnett County release, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson, District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins III, and Gwinnett County Sheriff Keybo Taylor, an alumnus of the original school.
