64-Year-Old Lawton Woman Dies in Two-Vehicle Collision in Van Buren County

A fatal collision on M-40 near 64th Avenue in Van Buren County’s Antwerp Township claimed the life of a 64-year-old Lawton woman on Thursday afternoon. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reported, that the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles. Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies found one of the drivers unresponsive.

Efforts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has yet to be released. According to WOODTV, a juvenile passenger, in the same car was also injured, along with the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash. Both were taken to Bronson Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into what led up to the collision. In a statement obtained by WWMT, the accident prompted responses from multiple emergency agencies, and further details are expected as the investigation proceeds.
