VHSL class 1 soccer finals recap

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – The Class 1 soccer finals held at Spartan Field, were a hard-fought battle for both the Auburn Eagles girls’ team and the Eastern Montgomery boys’ team, though both programs came up short in their respective matches.

The morning’s action kicked off with the Auburn Eagles girls facing off against the West Point Pointers. It was a challenging match for the Eagles, who struggled to find their rhythm early on. Despite their consistent effort, Auburn could not keep up with the high-paced attack of the Pointers. West Point’s offense was relentless, leading to a final score of 4-1. Auburn’s lone goal came late in the match, but it wasn’t enough to overcome West Point’s strong performance.

In the second match of the day, the Eastern Montgomery boys battled against the Northampton Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, the Yellowjackets proved to be too much for Eastern Montgomery, winning 7-1 in a decisive finish. The Mustangs were able to even the score at 1-1 early in the first half but, the Yellowjackets’ offensive firepower overwhelmed the Eastern Montgomery defense in the second when the added six more goals…
