Boat carrying 11 intercepted 22 miles out at sea off San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A boat carrying 11 suspected undocumented migrants was intercepted by a U.S. Coast Guard crew several miles out in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego early Saturday, the Coast Guard reports.

A 20-foot cabin cruiser boat was intercepted by the crew of Coast Guard Cutter Active (WMEC-618) after seeing the boat had no lights and several people on board about 22 miles out at sea west of La Jolla in San Diego Saturday morning.

Around 5 a.m., a boarding team stopped the boat and found 11 people who all claimed Mexican nationality, according to the Coast Guard.
