NYPD rescues ducklings trapped in Staten Island sewer

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City police officers came to the rescue of a family of ducks trapped in a sewer last Saturday, according to a tweet from the NYPD’s 123 Precinct, based in Tottenville.

Officers responded around 10:15 a.m. on June 7 to a report of ducklings stuck in a sewer located at the intersection of Seidman Avenue and Amboy Road in Eltingville.

“Protecting all, big or small, furry or feathered… earlier today, our officers responded to a call for help for some ducklings stuck in a sewer,” the precinct’s post said.

The NYPD Special Operations Emergency Service Unit assisted with successfully retrieving the young ducks from the sewer where they had become stuck and reunited them with their mother, a spokesperson from the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information said…
