LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Isolated storms are possible Saturday night. While not a washout, several rounds of isolated to scattered storms could bring gusty winds, small hail, and locally heavy rain to areas east of the Caprock.
Most of the area will remain quiet, but an isolated storm or two may form along the Texas-New Mexico border, mainly west of Lubbock. Any storms that develop are expected to be short-lived, with only a marginal risk for strong wind gusts or hail.
Storm chances increase overnight, mainly east of the Caprock. These early morning storms could bring brief heavy rain, hail up to quarter size, frequent lightning.
Sunday skies will open up and temperatures will quickly climb. Highs are expected to reach the upper 90s to near 100 degrees.
The heat intensifies Monday and Tuesday as a strong upper-level ridge expands across the South Plains. With clear skies and a dry atmosphere, highs are expected to climb into the triple digits…
