An Orleans Parish jail inmate with pre-existing health conditions died recently after being taken to an area hospital for treatment, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday.
Ulysses Cooks, 57, was transferred to the hospital for treatment when his condition worsened. He later died with his family by his side, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“We are grateful that several of Mr. Cooks’ family members were able to be by his side during his final hours,” a Sheriff’s Office statement read. “This is a deeply difficult time for his family, and we ask that their privacy be respected as they mourn.”…
