Reno’s Rhys Ferrito has competed every summer at the USAT Triathlon Youth Nationals since 2021, and won the National title twice, in Wisconsin (Milwaukee) 2023 and in Iowa (Des Moines) 2024.
This year, for the first time, he competed against adults in Omaha, Nebraska and became the youngest male in U.S. history to qualify for a Triathlon World Championship.
Once competitors reach the age of 15, they are allowed to compete in the Nationals’ adults age group. Until then, they are not allowed for safety reasons.
