Mass. city responds with vigil, calls for release after ICE arrests 2 young men

Only days after earning his diploma from Chelsea High School, agents from Immigration and U.S. Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Geovani Esau De La Cruz Catalan a few blocks from his home.

The 20-year-old had gone to pick up a few tools from his father when ICE agents pulled him over, asked for his license and then arrested him, according to his stepmother, Mayra Balderas.

“I’ve been reaching out to everyone that I know,” Balderas said. She serves on the city’s school committee, and she handed her stepson his diploma at his graduation ceremony…
