Charleston police declare weekend No Kings demonstrations ‘overwhelmingly peaceful’

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The Charleston Police Department on Monday addressed the “No Kings” demonstrations that took place locally last weekend, declaring them “overwhelmingly peaceful.” Some local activists said their interactions with the force after Saturday’s rally concluded were anything but.

Thousands are estimated to have showed up for rallies on the peninsula on June 14th & 15th as part of a nationwide “No Kings Day” campaign organized to protest President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies, especially its stance on immigration, first amendment rights, and foreign policy.
