‘There’s a lot to be done’: Working toward change a decade after deadly mass shooting

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Tuesday marks a decade since the deadly mass shooting that killed nine people in a hate-motivated attack at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.

Nearly 10 years later, community leaders and family members of the victims are holding a “Fellowship and Conversation” commemorative event to discuss how to make changes like addressing flaws in gun laws, legislation around hate crimes and improvements in mental health.

District 15 State Representative JA Moore’s sister was murdered, and he’s been fighting for change in the community ever since. He and other legislative leaders will meet to reflect on what changes have been made and what needs to be done still…
