GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids’ Office of Oversight and Public Accountability (OPA) is investigating the recent arrests of two men on the city’s southeast side that has spurred controversy in the community.
OPA Director Brandon Davis said the office has received an official complaint alleging officers used excessive force during the arrests, which happened around 9:15 a.m. Friday, June 14, outside Walgreens at 1601 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, in the city’s Boston Square neighborhood.
The complaint will be filed with the Grand Rapids Police Department’s (GRPD) Internal Affairs Division, and then will be reviewed by the OPA, Davis said…
