2 suspects arrested for robberies during transac

Two men are charged with robbery, assault, conspiracy and weapons crimes after a pair of incidents targeting people who agreed to sell jewelry through an online marketplace.

The incidents occurred last month at apartment complexes in Bear and Pike Creek. In both cases, New Castle County Police say the victims arrived with jewelry, but were held up at gunpoint.

In one case, a victim was struck.

County Police said 18-year-old Bruce Matthews and 21-year-old Jeremiah Whittaker were identified as suspects. Matthews was arrested in late May, and Whittaker was taken into custody last Thursday.
