Brad Bass, a longtime resident and volunteer coach in the Spanish Fort community, proudly announced his candidacy for mayor of Spanish Fort tonight. His platform will focus on public safety, increased transparency at City Hall, retail revitalization aligned with the city’s comprehensive plan, upgrades to athletic facilities, and improved connections between the city’s rapidly expanding neighborhoods.
“Spanish Fort is at a crossroads. Our retail developments are either empty or struggling to retain the businesses we have,” said Bass. “While brick-and-mortar retailers are declining across the country, there’s still interest in Spanish Fort. Unfortunately, some of the recent interest hasn’t followed the city’s comprehensive plan and threatens residential areas across the city. We have thousands upon thousands of square feet sitting empty in the Spanish Fort Town Center, and that’s something we must work to remedy.”…
