Alleged San Jose sideshow promoter arrested

(KRON) — A man who allegedly promoted more than a dozen illegal sideshows across San Jose while on probation was arrested, the San Jose Police Department announced Friday.

Louie Ristow is suspected of promoting approximately 13 illegal sideshows in San Jose between March and December 2024, according to police. “In each incident, illegal sideshows would occur in multiple locations throughout the city. This included Cinco de Mayo weekend where the same promoter organized and advertised around nine illegal sideshows in San José, disrupting a weekend filled with family-friendly sanctioned celebrations,” SJPD said.

Ristow was identified by patrol officers as the promoter, and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On June 3, he was located in San Jose and arrested for promoting illegal sideshows and for a probation violation.

“In a city that works hard to build community and care for each other, we won’t let chaos take the wheel — especially during family-friendly events meant to bring us together and celebrate our diversity,” San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan said in a news release. “This arrest makes it clear: if you promote violence, endanger lives, and hijack our streets, you’ll be held accountable.”
