POOLER, Ga. (WSAV) – Time is running out for a Pooler food pantry that’s served the community for more than 15 years. They’re still searching for a new home after a local church decided not to renew their space.
It was a difficult decision for volunteers and organizers to hear. After a meeting last week with Pooler First Baptist Church, they were told they need to vacate the space by June 30th. This provides them a few weeks to relocate or shut down.
Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry has spent the past few years at Pooler First Baptist Church, after previously operating out of the YMCA. With that lease ending, they’re now urgently searching for a new space to continue serving up to 500 people a month. This includes seniors, veterans, and nearly 200 children.
