It was a back-to-back win kind of week for Best Friends Animal Society, the nationally recognized nonprofit based in Kanab. Their commitment to animal welfare and compassionate hospitality earned them multiple accolades at both the Best of State Utah and Best of Southern Utah award events in June.
At the Best of State Utah celebration in Salt Lake City on June 10, Best Friends claimed three medals:
- Best Attraction (for the second year in a row)
- Best Boutique Lodging for the Best Friends Roadhouse & Mercantile
- Best Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant for the Angel Village Café
The winning continued the next night at the Best of Southern Utah awards in St. George, where Best Friends Animal Sanctuary brought home even more honors:
- Gold for Best Nonprofit and Best Place to Volunteer (both second consecutive wins)
- Silver for Best Place to Buy a Unique Gift for the Roadhouse & Mercantile
“These awards reflect the incredibly hard work of staff in Kanab who make the Best Friends magic happen every day,” said Michelle Sathe, Public Relations & Marketing Strategist for Best Friends Animal Society.
More Than a Sanctuary
Set against the red rock backdrop of Kanab, the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is more than a rescue—it’s a nationally loved destination. Visitors travel from around the world to tour the facility, meet adoptable animals, or simply relax in the scenic desert while staying at the pet-friendly Roadhouse.
The Angel Village Café continues to attract praise for its plant-based meals and serene views, offering guests a taste of mindful living in every bite…
