Early morning severe thunderstorm watch in effect for northeast Colorado

FORT MORGAN, Colo. — A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for several northeast Colorado counties until 8 a.m. Monday as strong overnight storms continue to impact the region, according to the National Weather Service in Denver.

The watch includes Adams, Logan, Morgan, Washington and Weld counties. One of the strongest storms struck west central Morgan County early Monday morning, prompting a severe thunderstorm warning that remains in effect until 4:30 a.m.

At 3:57 a.m., radar indicated a severe thunderstorm near Weldona, about 8 miles west of Fort Morgan, moving east at 15 mph. The National Weather Service warned the storm is capable of producing baseball-size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph, calling it a “destructive storm” for Weldona and Fort Morgan…
