Mat-Su students win 3rd place in Ninth Circuit Civics Contest

WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) – Two high school students in the Mat-Su won third place in a video competition for the 2025 U.S. Courts Ninth Circuit Civics Contest.

The team of Everett Piaskowski and Sebastian Young, both homeschool students, collectively produced a creative video essay highlighting the prompt, “When Duty Calls: Why Exercising the Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship is Important to Me.”

“I feel that it’s really important to know your rights as U.S. citizens and practice them, and to know them so they don’t get taken away from you,” Piaskowski said…
