Two Area Non-Profits Showcase Juneteenth With Free Discussions And Presentations

Everybody loves a freebie with no hitches attached. That’s what’s in store this Thursday, June 19, and it’s perfectly timed for folks who are staying in North Texas, because it’s way too hot to be sizzling poolside and just how many times can you go to Six Flags or Hurricane Harbor?

Instead, two area non-profits are providing events that seamlessly connect throughout the day for people of all ages, with a dose of history thrown in at no cost.

In celebration of Juneteenth, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum is holding free programs and exhibitions throughout the day that’s about “federal troops arriving in Galveston, Texas, and informing residents of the end of the Civil War and the abolition of slavery.”

No sooner will the Museum conclude its day of events and presentations than the Dallas Historical Society’s Dallas History Lens will premiere the program: Focus On Juneteenth — A Celebration of Freedom. The program will feature the recollections of those who impacted history as well as an opportunity to tell your own story of what Juneteenth means to you…
